Sony announces it's Q4 2023 Results
Sony has announced it’s fiscal results for the last Quarter of 23 that ended March 31, 2024 and it’s numbers are up in most of the parts of Playstation (even if only by a bit):
- It shipped 1.8 million units less than in the same period last year, however seen over the entire fiscal year numbers were up by 1.7 million units
- Numbers of active Users on PSN reached 118 million monthly active users, up by 10 million for the same period of the previous fiscal year
- Combined software sales (PS4+5) were up 4.6 million units over the same period of the previous fiscal year, 12.3 million units of that were first party titles
This would lead me to the conclusion that, as many have suggested, we’re in the solid mid-season cycle for PS5. It seems that the big demand spike from not being able to get one because of covid and scalpers is now solidly behind us and we can expect smaller growth for some time.
I’m curious how the rumored PS-5 Pro, that’s supposed to be announced this holiday quarter, will shake things up again.
Personally, I don’t see much of a change, if all it does is give a little more power than the current PS5. We would need to see more current gen only titles at first, as those have been too far and few in between and publishers very seldomly (first party titles excepted) have not taken as much advantage of the power PS5 provides as I’d like.
